Dear Hot Dog Heaven:

I love you. I love everything about you. In a bizarre world of teenagers trying to push over jiffy marts with plastic bottles of salad dressing, you are the one thing I can rely on to make me feel better.

No matter how bad my day is going, I know that I can go to your place and be greeted by familiar, smiling faces. I’ve been eating at your establishment for five years now, and I see the same wonderful staff who asks about my hot dog-eating compatriots if they’re not with me that day. Yesterday, I walked off without my sweet tea, and one of your employees actually chased me across the road to make sure I got it. Most places don’t care.

I could be biased; after all, I am a Chicago native. But your hot dogs are consistently delicious. With over 18 different types of dogs available, my friends and I always find something we like. Whether it be a cheese & kraut dog, a baked bean & onion dog, polish sausage dogs, bagel dogs, or your authentic Chicago dogs, we always know that we’re going to get a great lunch. My friend particularly likes your chili dogs:

And I always get your Mustard, Relish, and Onion Dog:

I love that for just a few dimes extra, I can get added cheese, kraut, cole slaw, chili, relish, or peppers on my dog. I can also get a side of chili, a pickle, cheese fries, or chili cheese fries, which leads me to my next question:

Why are your French fries so dang good?

It’s really almost criminal, to be honest. My diets stand absolutely no chance against what my friends and I call “the best French fries in Orlando.” I often go in thinking I’ll be strong and just get a hot dog, and not your basket that includes the French fries and a side of either cole slaw, beans, or macaroni salad. My friends always bank on the fact that I’ll get a basket, and they’ll be able to pick at my fries because your helpings are so generous I rarely finish them all.

And thank you for serving Pepsi products. I love Mountain Dew, and I hate not having the option to get it.

I’m also addicted to your Hot Dog Heaven plastic cups. I’ve collected them in nearly every color combination, and they hold up unbelievably well in the hundreds of dishwasher assaults I’ve given them over the years. I love being able to bring in my cup and getting a fountain soda or tea for just $.35. Now, THAT is a bargain!

Your seating area inside may be a little small:

…but I can always eat outside on the many tables you have available. I also love sitting outside at the lake right behind your establishment (where your staff actually delivered my tea yesterday!):

There’s a lovely breeze off the lake, and I can get my Mary Poppins on and feed the many birds that peck around at the grass behind me. It’s a wonderful respite after sitting behind a computer screen for hours.

I have a confession: I haven’t tried your Hershey’s ice cream or floats yet. I’m dying to try your Cookie Dough and Vanilla Fudge flavors, but I’m usually too full from all of my French fries. But I promise I will soon.
